About a month ago, I got introduced to Kiehl’s Nightly Refining Micro-Peel Concentrate at their press event. I was skeptical at first because peels tend to have a bad reputation with sensitive skin and I usually stay far far away from it. After an introduction by Kiehl’s product team, I discovered for the first time in skin care, Quinoa husk extract has been used to formulate into a peel that’s as gentle on skin as it is potent. That means it will work even on the most sensitive skin.
This concentrate is said to offer accelerated cell turnover, refined texture, improved skin tone evenness and softer, more radiant skin. I’m definitely intrigued to try this out. I just started adding it to my nightly regime because I just recovered from a breakout and desperately in need of a treatment to slough off the dead skin scabs and help my pimple scars heal. Boy am i amazed.
Quinoa – The Main Ingredient
Kiehl’s scientists made a surprise discovery on quinoa’s powerful skin exfoliating properties after they happen to see discarded husks bubbling with activity. Who would have known that this highly antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-viral and anti-cancer superfood had a skincare usage too. I personally love to add quinoa into my diet whenever I can, although I’m still very much the asian girl who loves RICE.
Now i can add quinoa to my skincare too!
My Experience with the Micro-Peel
I’m very glad that this formula comes in a watery consistency. It is somewhat similar to the Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Concentrate if you’ve used it before. It’s light and easily absorbed. I simply drop some on my face and pat it down. Less than a minute later, it’s all absorbed into my skin.
From the photos below, you can see that it gives a matte and clean finish instead of a sticky residue on the third picture below.
After just 1 night, I witness no irritation, a slight increase in radiance and smaller pores. Maybe it’s just all the hype and information that i’ve read that made me feel that way so i tried it for a whole week. My pimple scabs have flattened and evened out and still, no outbreak or more pimples coming out from using this product. I’m so excited to keep using this for awhile more to see what other benefits it offers.
I pair it with the Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Concentrate seen below because I do need the extra help. The hardest part about the outbreak is not the pimple, it’s the dark spots it leaves after the pimple is gone. /sigh. This is also a favourite product of mine and it has no silicones, no parabens, no fragrance, no colorants and no optical diffusers. The five NOs that i love in skin care!
So this product starts selling TODAY on all Kiehl’s stores islandwide. You can grab samples of this micro-peel to give it a go before you make the commitment to purchase the whole bottle which costs $99 for a 30 ml.
Don’t forget to let me know about your experience using this micro-peel if you’ve tried it! Comment below!
